Ram Gopal Varma says he is ready to co-operate with investigating agencies like any other law-abiding citizen regarding the sensational murder of Madalecheruvu Suri. “Everybody knew that I had been interacting with Suri for the last two years in connection with my film Raktha Charitra to gather inputs for my sequel. Still, if investigating officers want any information from me, I’ll definitely oblige,” he informs.
The film maker also rubbishes speculations about Suri funding the Raktha Charitra series. “It’s utter nonsense. Firstly, why would I seek funds from Suri and then, why would Suri squander his money on a film that glorified his real-life arch rival? In fact, I am just a director of the film, it was produced by a B-town production house. Later, C. Kalyan bought the Andhra rights, while Udayanidhi Stalin, the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s grandson, procured the Tamil region rights,” he adds.
However, the shocking death of his new-found friend, had come as a jolt to the director. “It was disturbing since I happened to develop a rapport with the deceased man in the course of our seven to eight meetings, so it pained me as a fellow human being,” he reasons. On rumours that his gripping factionist saga had reopened old wounds between the warring groups and on his plans of making Raktha Charitra 3, he says, “It’s just ridiculous, since investigations have negated such theories by unearthing a different set of reasons. I have also dropped the plan to make RC 3,” he points out.
