Veteran director, writer and producer EVV Satyanarayana passed away yesterday (Friday, January 21, 2011) due to cardiac arrest. He was 56. He leaves behind his two sons (Aryan Rajesh and Allari Naresh) and wife.
EVV had been suffering from throat cancer and his condition had turned critical recently. He breathed his last following a severe cardiac arrest at Apollo Hospitals, Hyderabad.
EVV Satyanarayana was born on 10 June 1956 in Korumamidi, West Godavari district. His full name is Edara Veera Venkata Satyanarayana. He directed over 50 films
Known for his unique style of comedy, wit and humour, EVV made his debut as director with the film ‘Chevilo Puvvu.’ He tasted his maiden success with ‘Premakaidi.’ But Rajendra Prasad starrer ‘Appula Appa Rao’ released in 1991 was the first biggest in his career which completed silver jubilee. Later on, he directed many successful films like Seetaratnam Gari Abbayi, Abbaiyigaru, Intlo Illalu Vantitlo Priyuralu, Maa Nanaku Pelli Jamba Lakidi Pamba, Varasudu, Aa Okkati Adakku, Hello Brother, Ame, Alluda Majaka, Sooryavansham, Thotti Gang etc. His last film was was Kathi Kantha Rao. Buridi was his 50th film.
EVV introduced many new talents to Telugu Cinema who later turned out to be successful and popular heroes, heroines, comedians and character artists.
He turned producer with ‘Chala Bagundi’ released in 2000. It was produced under his own banner.
He made his Bollywood debut with Amitabh Bachan starrer ‘Suryavansham.’
Many Tollywood stalwarts expressed grief at the death of the veteran director-writer- producer.
